XOMA - A Leader in Therapeutic Antibodies

  Technology Licenses Technology Licenses

XOMA pioneered early methods for the bacterial secretion of antibody domains and has built a body of intellectual property around this work that is key for today’s needs for antibody discovery and manufacturing. The production of antibodies, antibody fragments, and other proteins in bacteria using a secretion pathway and the practice of antibody phage display both employ XOMA's microbial secretion of antibodies and antibody fragment technology. To date, XOMA has licensed this technology to more than 40 companies. Currently, there are two products in late-stage clinical development which are manufactured using our technology:  Genentech Inc.'s Lucentis™ (ranibizumab) antibody fragment to vascular endothelial growth factor for wet age-related macular degeneration and UCB Celltech's CIMZIA™ anti-TNF alpha antibody fragment for rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease.
