Department: Business Development Job Title: Assoc. Director or Director Business Development, E0802-A Description: Responsible for business development initiatives with respect to XOMA's technology and capabilities as a leader in therapeutic antibodies. Will play a key role in providing leadership with respect to business development strategies, plans, competitive analyses, and modeling for advancing product or technology in-licensing, out-licensing, or antibody collaboration activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Provide effective business representation for assigned projects and teams, including:
- Provide key input for the identification and development of product or technology licensing opportunities to include business and market strategies, assessments and justification, preparation of presentations, written materials and due diligence activities;
- Provide market research and benchmarking analyses with financial modeling, if applicable, in order for XOMA to support key decisions regarding in- or out licensing of antibody products or technologies or securing multi-target antibody collaborations.
- Provide leadership in the representation of XOMA as a leader in therapeutic antibodies including management of XOMA's activities at conferences and updating materials such as brochures and presentations.
- Monitor and communicate internally antibody industry trends, including the competitive landscape.
- Assist in managing the activities of the business development staff.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Job Requirements: Education and/or experience - MBA, JD or other relevant advanced degree, with strong emphasis in business and life sciences.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in biopharmaceutical-related deals, structuring in- and out-licensing arrangements and leading business development initiatives and negotiations.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry a must including licensing and patents, drug development, drug discovery, sales and marketing of therapeutic agents, therapeutic markets.
- Superior negotiation, influencing and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Successful management skills and demonstrated cross-functional team leadership.
