Job Title: Sr. Project Accountant/ Financial Analyst, E0862-A
Description:
Primary responsibility is maintaining XOMA's project accounting system. Other main responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of the monthly Executive Summary & Quarterly Board Packages, preparation of the R&D Footnote for External Reporting on R&D programs and collaboration accounting, and the preparation of the annual ECI and R&D Credit analysis that support XOMA's Annual Tax Return filing. Manage integrity of project reporting including reviewing project time and expense data, system interfaces, and analyzing project financial status. Work with FP&A team to deliver monthly financial reporting and operational variance analysis related to projects throughout the Company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Monthly close of XOMA project costing and preparation of supplementary financial statement schedules related to R&D cost for SEC reporting.
- Review time and expense data for appropriate project coding and manage reporting system interfaces and data integrity.
- Support the preparation of monthly invoices to our Partners by performing internal controls designed to ensure the accuracy of XOMA's invoices.
- Perform the monthly close of inventory from the inventory sub-ledger to the general ledger, inventory flux analysis and other inventory related transactions.
- Support in timely preparation of reports and schedules necessary to support XOMA's financial participation in collaborative and service agreements.
- Work as part of FP&A team to ensure proper recording of actual vs. budgeted project costs as well as create, analyze, and distribute financial and budget reports (including variance explanations).
- Analyze research and development resource utilization as well as developing future financial dashboard metrics on a monthly basis.
- Prepare summaries of analyses and report results to the Sr. Mgr. of FP&A, Director of FP&A or project teams as necessary.
- Work with Finance and Information Technology department to maintain Oracle Projects, as well as, continue to refine the existing system and design and implement new financial reports and tools to drive better business decisions by management.
- Assist in development and tracking of manufacturing cost and effectiveness metrics.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly project reconciliation reports and review it with management.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Develop and maintain the Contractual FTE rates as well as Budgeted FTE rates.
- Be an integral member of the team task with Batch Pricing methodology and calculation.
- Undertake internal control activities to ensure that XOMA's books and records are valid, accurate, complete, and in conformance with XOMA's Policies and Procedures.
Job Requirements:
Education and/or experience:
- BS/BA in finance or accounting.
- 3-5 years experience with increasing responsibilities in Project Accounting or General Accounting roles. Oracle Financials ERP experience preferred, especially Oracle Projects.
- Experience with manufacturing cost, variance analysis, and associated systems.
- Experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries, preferred.
- Experience with Oracle Discoverer, preferred.
Special skills/knowledge:
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and others.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Capable of managing numerous simultaneous projects, including following each through to completion against deadlines.
- Must consistently demonstrate initiative, ability to work independently, and be self motivated.
- Ability to engage with XOMA's operational and financial management.
- Presentation and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate financial information to people at all skill levels.
