OVERALL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Independently performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on a variety of equipment, both process and utility, in support of a manufacturing, research & development, and laboratory operations. Possesses a working knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles.  Possesses a working knowledge of utility systems and other process equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

v  Complete and document GMP training and On the Job training to include both written and hands on proficiency training.

v  Perform routine maintenance and repairs in a timely fashion.

v  Identify and respond to quality events to assure protection of manufactured product.

v  Analyze equipment and systems, develop corrective actions to technical problems, and carry them out.

v  Participate on project teams for major projects.  Complete individual projects on a limited basis.

v  Work with Facilities Support Clerk to order parts and components, maintaining adequate inventory to affect repairs of critical equipment.

v  Revise and submit change requests for Standard Operating procedures.  Tests new procedures for accuracy and completeness.

v  Document repairs, adjustments, and replacement of equipment and or components per GMP standards and Xoma procedures.

v  Provide after hours on call support.

v  Assists Engineering Tech I in trouble shooting and repair of equipment.

v  Coordinate with outside contractors to ensure projects and PM’s are completed on time and correctly.

v   Supports validation of equipment and system IQ, OQ, and PQ’s.

v  Execution of Critical, Facilities, and Preventive Maintenance Work Orders

v  Assists with technical training of new Facilities engineering employees.  Assists other departments with training on new equipment.

v  Assists with new equipment start-ups.

v  Assists in drawing updates by performing system walk downs with  P&ID’s

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

v  Other projects/tasks as assigned.

v  Comply with XOMA’s Policies and Procedures.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or experience

v  High School diploma or general education degree (GED)

v  Experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, refrigeration, and or process equipment (Fermentors, autoclaves, ovens, tanks, pumps, etc..).

v  At least 5 years in a structured maintenance program: or equivalent combination of education of education and experience.

v  At least 1 year in a pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, or other regulated industry.

 

Special skills/knowledge

v  Must be able to work independently and have a high mechanical aptitude

v  Knowledge of cGMPs

v  Effective communication skills.

v  Able to maintain accurate and legible records.

v  Able to read and understand P&ID’s and electrical schematics.
