Benefits Profile
XOMA offers a comprehensive benefits package and we remain committed to providing our employees with cost effective and competitive programs. The following represents a brief outline of our various benefits plans.
Medical Plans
XOMA offers medical care plans to provide employees with quality care and comprehensive coverage at a reasonable cost. We offer a choice of 2 medical plans that provide our employees and their eligible dependents with choice and flexibility. Employee contributions are pre-tax.
Dental Plan
Our dental coverage through Delta Dental is designed to encourage preventative care by paying 100% of the reasonable and customary costs for preventive services and pays a portion of the charges for general and major services. Employee contributions are pre-tax.
Vision Plan
Employees enrolled in a medical plan are provided coverage under the vision plan at no extra cost. This enhanced benefit is designed to provide you and your eligible dependents with a well-rounded plan that includes annual coverage for vision examination, standard eyeglass lenses, eyeglass frames and contact lenses.
Flexible Spending Account
Employees can make pre-tax contributions to help offset any out-of-pocket expenses for health care and dependent care needs. You can set aside up to $4,000 for health care expenses, and up to $5,000 for dependent care expenses on an annual basis.
Disability Programs
XOMA's disability programs are for your protection in the event you become disabled as a result of a non-occupational accident or illness. We offer both short-term and long-term disability coverages to provide you with income while you are not able to work.
Life Insurance
XOMA pays 100% of the premium for basic life insurance coverage equal to one times your annual salary. Employees have the option to purchase additional coverage at group rates.
Long Term Care Plan
XOMA pays for 100% of the premium for a basic long term care plan to assist employees should they ever find themselves in need of such a plan. Employees have the option to purchase additional coverage at our group rates should they want to increase their benefit or cover additional family members.
401k Plan
Employees can participate in the plan immediately following date of hire. An employee can contribute up to 50% of compensation, not to exceed IRS annual limits. Upon the approval by the Board of Directors, XOMA makes an annual matching contribution up to 50% of the employee's elective pre-tax deferral contribution. This plan also accepts direct rollovers from other qualified plans.
Share Option Plans
Employees may be eligible for share options at the time of hire and annually depending on performance. Options give employees the right to purchase specific numbers of XOMA Ltd. common shares for a period of 10 years. The grant price is based on the fair market value when NASDAQ closes on the day of Board of Directors approval. Options are subject to a four year annual vesting schedule.
Employee Share Purchase Plan
Employees can participate in the plan on a quarterly basis, and contribute up to 15% of compensation. At the end of the quarter, shares are purchased at a 5% discount of the closing share price on the last day of the quarterly period.
Time Off
XOMA provides you with paid time away from work in which to relax, take care of personal matters, and recuperate from brief illnesses, which includes the following:
Sick leave- full pay for all illnesses of 5 days or less.
Vacation- full time employees accrue vacation at a rate of 1.25 days per month. Employees earn 15 days of vacation per year for the first five years of employment, and earn one extra day per year thereafter, to a maximum of 20 days of vacation after nine years of employment. Holidays- XOMA recognizes 10 paid holidays per year plus an additional 2 personal holidays per year. This allows the employees to observe occasions that may be of personal significance to them.
Employee Assistance Program
XOMA offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Claremont Behavioral Services, which provides five confidential counseling sessions as well as a variety of other resources, including, legal consultation, financial services, dependent care referrals, access to treatment programs and facilities at discounted rates, and referral to community resources.
Educational Assistance
XOMA pays expenses for tuition, fees and books up to $5,250 per year (reimbursement is based on the grade received in a course). Courses must be taken at accredited universities or colleges and must be pre-approved.
Commuter Checks Program
Employees can elect to participate in our commuter check program and contribute up to $105 on a monthly pre-tax basis towards the purchase of commuter checks. Commuter checks are widely accepted at Public Transit agencies in the Bay Area, and also for participating vanpool arrangements.
Credit Union
XOMA employees and dependents are eligible to join Patelco Credit Union. Patelco has many convenient locations throughout the Bay Area. In addition to savings and checking accounts, members can apply for auto and other consumer loans at a low interest rate, and with flexible terms.
Concierge Service
XOMA sponsors a concierge service that can help you with personal errands like taking your car in for repairs and weekly trips to stores as well as assistance with vacation planning. The service is paid for by XOMA, employees only pay for the items or services actually purchased.
Discounted Tickets
Discounted tickets are available for the purchase of movie tickets, and other various theme park establishments.
