Collaborations

We currently have collaborations with multiple biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies for various disease areas. We work with collaborators on their disease areas of interest, coordinating with them to develop potent monoclonal antibodies to their targets.

Genentech

XOMA’s collaborations have led to the development, approval and commercialization of the antibody RAPTIVA® (efalizumab) marketed by Genentech and Serono SA for the treatment of chronic, moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. As part of the collaboration, XOMA was responsible for the scale-up and manufacture of efalizumab for both preclinical and clinical purposes, the completion of toxicology and other preclinical studies, conduct of phase I and II clinical studies and manufacturing of the product for phase III clinical trials.

Novartis

XOMA and Novartis have a worldwide, multi-product, cost and profit sharing collaborative agreement for the development and commercialization of antibody products for the treatment of cancer. This agreement was initially between XOMA and Chiron, but transferred to Novartis in April 2006, upon the acquisition of Chiron by Novartis. The lead product candidate in this collaboration is HCD122, a fully human, antagonistic antibody that targets the CD40 antigen and is in phase I clinical trials.

Schering-Plough and Takeda

XOMA conducts monoclonal antibody discovery and development projects against undisclosed targets for both Schering-Plough and Takeda. Both collaborations involve multiple discovery programs.
